The Rope Tow opens for the season when snowpack allows (generally end-December or early-January) and runs through mid-April (or later depending on skier interest and snowpack)

Special openings are announced via the SNOW-line, on our Facebook page (Homer Rope Tow) and on local radio station KBBI 890AM.

ROPE TOW FAQ’s

DO YOU RENT SKIS/ SNOWBOARDS

No. We are working on a gear exchange program, likely as a Facebook Group, but we have no plans to own or rent gear. The gear exchange program will be announced on the Homer Rope Tow Facebook page.

CAN I SLED ON THE ROPE TOW HILL

Nope. Our facility is for skiing and snowboarding only. Mixing of gear types on the hill to include sleds or toboggans is dangerous and not permitted at any ski area.

IS THE TUBING HILL OPEN

This was never part of our operations and was done on private property nearby off of Ohlson Mountain Road. But the business has been closed for over 5 years and there are no plans to reopen it.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO SKI AT THE TOW

DAY PASSES

$5 for Youth under 18
$10 for an Adult
$20 for a Family

SEASON PASSES

$50 for Youth
$110 for Adult
$150 for a Family

Our hours of operation are Sundays 11am- 4pm.

ARE THERE SKI/ SNOWBOARD LESSONS

Once we have a full complement of volunteers trained, we will be offering group lessons. Announcements about instruction will be made on our Facebook page and the SNOWline (235-SNOW). Typically this happens in February. If it's a slow day and a board member or other volunteer is available, we do offer informal instruction from time to time. Ask a lift attendant.

WHY ARE YOU ONLY OPEN SUNDAYS

We are a completely volunteer run organization and have a goal of being open two days a week. But until we get a larger group of trained volunteers, much of the staffing effort falls on the shoulders of our 9 member Board of Directors. And each opening takes 7 volunteers. So to expand beyond a single day a week, we need your help and will train you. Ask one of the attendants how to become part of the effort!
